Skinnyman was the first UK rapper I heard whose lyrics focused on the struggle of the British working class. The album (same name as song) gave me a lot of comfort – finally someone was rapping about issues familiar to me. I had been waiting for this album for a long time and it had a massive impact on my life, inspiring me to start writing lyrics as well as getting me into UK Hip Hop (I’d stopped listening to US Hip Hop years before this, simply because I couldn’t fully relate to it)
